You Mustn’t Leave the Roots

In the latest video releasing on Gorgon Records’ YouTube Channel, legendary singers Jackie Edwards and Delroy Wilson discuss how “you mustn’t leave the roots” and how producers and artists need to have an eye on the ever-changing music landscape to be able to compete and stay relevant.

Ironically enough, both Jackie Edwards and Delroy Wilson are sitting less than a meter away from Lloyd “King Jammy” James, who would go on to prove true what has been said. It was Jammy’s hit 1985 production of Wayne Smith’s “Under Mi Sleng Teng”, which did in-fact change the Reggae music landscape overnight from instrumental to computerized.

When asked about the insight of both Delroy Wilson and Jackie Edwards, Likkle Striker, son of producer Bunny “Striker” Lee OD says: “Such an impactful video, it’s amazing to see the greats in their glory days speaking about music… this an awesome video.”

While legends such as Delroy Wilson and Jackie Edwards may no longer be with us, their music and insight demonstrate their role during such a pivotal time in Reggae music history.
