SUMMER HEATS UP WITH A SERIES OF CONCERTS SHOWCASING VP RECORDS STELLAR ARTISTS From BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! to SummerStage, the Largest Reggae Music Company Continues its 40th Anniversary Celebration

For the past four decades VP Records, the world’s largest reggae music company, has been marketing Caribbean culture and island lifestyle through music, events and merchandise. Since planting roots in Jamaica, Queens, VP Records has worked with some of the biggest names in the business including Buju Banton, Sean Paul, Beenie Man, and Lady Saw. This summer, as a part of their year-long calendar of events celebrating 40 years, VP Records will light up the city with music from top artists including Elephant Man, Raging Fyah and Jah9.  

“In January, we kicked off the year with a return to our homeland of Jamaica for the ‘Strictly The Best – LIVE Montego Bay’ all-star concert and then unveiled ‘A Reggae Music Journey’ exhibit at Sangster International Airport,” said company president Randy Chin. “As the weather begins heating up in New York City so does our calendar of events celebrating this milestone. We’ve lined up a tremendous group of artists to perform from June through August giving our beloved second home a taste of what VP Records has contributed to the genre of reggae music.”  

The following are the calendar of summer concerts featuring VP Records artists:   

Jah9 Performs at BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival (June 27, 2019 @ 7:30PM) Known for combining her love of yoga and Jamaican Dub music, VP Records artist Jah 9 comes to Brooklyn’s Prospect Park for the annual BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival. BRIC is a leader of free cultural programming in Brooklyn presenting and nurturing diverse artists and media-makers. A favorite summertime concert series is its acclaimed program BRIC Celebration Brooklyn!. Attendees will experience a meditative and uplifting performance by Jah 9.  

Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival New York (July 21, 2019)  The 9th staging of the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival will take place at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens. As New York’s biggest Caribbean food and music festival, the event delivers authentic culinary creations and entertainment. showcasing the Caribbean culture. VP Records will give attendees the opportunity to explore its recently curated exhibit “A Reggae Music Journey,” which chronicles VP Records’ illustrious history. Attendees will also be treated to performances by Bunji Garland, Capelton, Christopher Martin, Fay-Ann Lyons, and Sheensea.  

VP Records 40th Anniversary Celebration: Elephant Man / Junior Reid / Estelle / Raging Fyah at Central Park SummerStage (August 10, 2019 from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm) Central Park SummerStage is New York’s largest free outdoor preforming arts festival and has quickly become a summer staple in the city. From iconic performers to the latest up-and-coming artists, SummerStage presents a bevvy of cross-genre concerts throughout the entirety of the summer. VP Records will host an all-star showcase with some of its illustrious alumni at a 40th anniversary celebration at Central Park SummerStage. Attendees can look forward to performances by Elephant Man, Grammy-winner Estelle, Junior Reid and Raging Fyah.
