Shuga to Perform at WHCC’s International Food & Music Festival

The World Heritage Cultural Center (WHCC) is thrilled to announce the upcoming 291st World of Colors Concert, set to take place on May 10, 2025. This momentous concert marks a historic milestone as the inaugural event in the vibrant community of Sandy Hook, CT, kicking off our first-ever outdoor International Food and Music Festival. In collaboration with the Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP), this event celebrates humanity through the rich tapestry of arts and food, uniting diverse cultures in an unforgettable experience.

Since its founding by visionary Sattie Persaud in 2005, WHCC has sparked a movement aimed at honoring cultural heritage and strengthening community ties across the United States. With an impressive network of 850 cultural groups, WHCC has produced 290 concerts, establishing itself as the largest organization of its kind nationwide. Sattie Persaud’s thought leadership and involvement as a member of the Forbes Nonprofit Council have inspired many within the nonprofit sector through her influential writings and advocacy.

WHCC is also proud to introduce a unique program that invites artists and community members to represent their cultures. In 2025, we welcomed SHUGA as the official WHCC Ambassador for Jamaica! We are excited to have SHUGA perform at this landmark concert, as her enchanting voice captivates audiences and exemplifies the spirit of WHCC’s mission to celebrate our shared humanity through art.

The World of Colors Concert promises to be more than just a performance; it is a celebration fueled by the spirit of community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Chief Anthony Capozziello and the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company for generously providing their backyard as the venue for this significant occasion. Their support illustrates the essential collaboration that underpins the success of this festival.

We also express our gratitude to Michael Burton, president of SHOP, whose unwavering commitment since the 1980s has been pivotal in revitalizing the Sandy Hook Village community. His dedication to marketing, business growth, and cultural initiatives has created a solid foundation for events like the World of Colors Concert.

Join us in Sandy Hook for a day filled with music, food, and cultural appreciation. The World Heritage Cultural Center is committed to fostering an inclusive environment that encourages understanding and celebration of diverse cultures. Together, let us create memorable moments at this extraordinary event.
