Lloyd ‘King Jammy’ James is an iconic figure in Jamaican reggae with countless hits to his name. His Jammys label and recording studio have been the home of some key developments in the genre, particularly his classic Sleng Teng riddim which spurred reggae’s ‘digital era’. This album, companion to the anthology release “Roots, Reality and Sleng Teng” focuses on the roots phase of Jammy’s productions including tracks from Dennis Brown and Black Uhuru. The album mixes singer and DJ combinations on Bad Girl and African Love/ Yogi Bear plus Zambia the dub collaboration with King Tubby with whom Prince Jammy made his start.
