Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival DC Presents Food, Music & Fun this Sunday

Following a very successful inaugural staging in Washington, DC last year, the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival returns this Sunday, June 18, where families, friends, celebrities, chefs and jerk lovers will gather for the second staging of the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival! This will be the mecca for mouthwatering jerk goodness … all in one place, all day long at its new home on the Festival Lawn at RFK Stadium, Lot 6, in celebration of June as Caribbean American Heritage Month.

Tarrus Riley and VP Records artists Romain Virgo, Queen Ifrica and Soca’s royal couple Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons will perform. Local favorites Ras Slick and Image band along with comedian Raggashanti, DJ G-Nice and Ablazin Radio DJs will add more flavor to the day’s entertainment.

The Jerk Cook-off Pavilion will feature cooking demonstrations and tastings by Chef Andre Fowles, winner of Food Network’s Chopped Champion and Chef Irie, host of Taste The Islands television show on PBS. Washington DC’s own Chef Giovanni Merle will showcase one of his tasty recipes while a celebrity cook-off will be one of the many highlights where the crowd will cheer on their favorite celebrity in a heated battle featuring Fay-Ann Lyons.

Traditional folk presentations as well as spoken word, singing and dancing will be on display on the Cultural stage to welcome patrons who arrive early to the event. The kids will be entertained with a lot of interactive games, activities and an offering of tasty treats over in the Kidz Zone.

New to this year’s festival will be a VIP Vibe zone which will offer patrons an all-inclusive menu of gourmet tapas servings, drinks, waiter service, exquisite decor and a premium viewing area, delivering an exclusive fan experience.

Tickets are available at dcjerkfestival.com/, Ticketmaster and selected Caribbean retail outlets. Kids 10 and under will be admitted free.  Advance general admission tickets are $25.00 and VIP for $125 – ticket prices will increase at the gate on the day of the event. Gates will open at 11:00am and the fun continues until 8:00pm.

The Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival, DC is presented by the Institute of Caribbean Studies and produced by Jamaican Jerk Festival NY, LLC in association with VP Records.
